Loyal fans of Samsung Electronics got their first look at the latest Galaxy device, the Note 8.
It debuted at a glitzy, high-profile launch event in New York.
The tech giant hopes to win back customer trust, after the disastrous previous model.
Yu Joonhee gets us better acquainted with the flagship phablet.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 8,... one of the most hotly-anticipated smartphones of the year so far,... made its debut on Wednesday, to the delight of fans.
It's seen as an important launch for the Korean tech firm... as it tries to bounce back from the fallout... of last year's "explosive" Galaxy Note 7 debacle.
That unfortunate predecessor to Samsung's latest device... succumbed to defective battery issues that were never rectified... and was pulled off the market in a massive recall,... never again to see the light of day.
Samsung is very much aware of its failings,... as well as the legions of dedicated fans who stayed loyal despite the Note 7 fiasco,... and is now determined, not to make the same mistake twice.

Samsung's latest flagship device... features a huge, six-point-three-inch HD screen among other high-end features,... which also include a range of biometric security options,... such as fingerprint, iris and facial recognition.
It also mounts a dual-camera, a first for a Samsung device,... and enhanced functionality of the S-Pen, an iconic accessory of its Note-series of handsets.
Tech experts generally agree,... the Note 8 is one of, if not *the most powerful smartphones currently out there... that will dispel any lingering doubts on whether Samsung is still on top of its game.

The Note 8 will hit store shelves on September 15th starting in South Korea,... and will gradually be shipped to markets across the globe.
