Dependence on semiconductors is not just an economic priority for countries, it is also a national security concern. Keith Krach kicks off the panel session with an introduction of the work of the Center for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue (CTDP) – a vital bridge between Silicon Valley and Washington D.C. foreign policy makers, aimed at advancing the technological leadership of the U.S. and our allies while advancing freedom and democracy vs. authoritarianism; and also, an announcement of the appointment of Bonnie Glick, former Chief Operating Officer of USAID, as CTDP’s inaugural director. Senator Todd Young opened the discussion with a description of the bipartisan Endless Frontier Act, a $250B bipartisan Senate-approved bill for research funding in semiconductors and other top national security technologies.
