2025 Mitsubishi Delica Mini Facelift: Kei Van Gets Pajero Spirit With Rugged Styling and Tech Upgrades
Mitsubishi is breathing new life into one of its smallest but most characterful vehicles, the Delica Mini, with a next-generation update scheduled for autumn 2025. Despite launching in spring 2023, Mitsubishi is wasting no time in refining its kei van to keep it ahead in Japan’s ultra-competitive kei car segment. This refresh blends tougher styling, smarter technology, and improved ride comfort while still retaining the quirky charm that made the Delica Mini an instant hit.
At first glance, the 2025 Delica Mini looks familiar, but a closer look reveals that nearly every exterior panel has been reworked. The headlights, now larger and featuring Defender-inspired semicircular LED graphics, immediately stand out. The front grille has grown thicker and more upright, with a Jeep-like vibe that highlights Mitsubishi’s rugged design DNA. Complementing this are redesigned bumpers with color-matched Dynamic Shield elements, new intakes, and a more aggressive skid plate, giving the kei van a mini-Pajero spirit.
The profile also gets notable changes. The hood and front fenders are more sculpted, the doors more defined, and the windshield pushed forward by 115 millimeters, creating a more upright stance. At the rear, Mitsubishi has added modern LED taillights, a larger skid plate, and cleaner tailgate trim. Buyers will also enjoy a refreshed color palette featuring two new shades, Sand Beige Pearl and Denim Blue Pearl, both available in single or dual-tone with a contrasting black roof.
Despite these updates, the Delica Mini retains its compact 3,395 mm footprint, perfectly aligned with Japan’s kei car regulations. Inside, however, the little van feels significantly more upscale. The new digital cockpit combines a 7-inch instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen housed in a single seamless panel. Higher-quality materials, beige trim accents, and better insulation give the cabin a more premium feel, while the flexible seating layout makes it practical for urban families. Mitsubishi has also added advanced ADAS features and a 3D Multi Around Monitor with four cameras, a big step up in safety for this class.
Powertrain details haven’t been officially confirmed, but Mitsubishi is expected to carry over the outgoing model’s 658cc three-cylinder engine. In naturally aspirated form, it delivers 51 horsepower, while the turbocharged version offers 63 horsepower and 100 Nm of torque. Both engines pair exclusively with a CVT automatic, sending power to either the front wheels or an optional full-time 4WD system. Despite modest output, the Delica Mini continues to stand out with selectable drive modes—Power, Normal, Eco, Gravel, and Snow—helping drivers tailor performance for city streets or light off-road adventures.
To further improve comfort, Mitsubishi has equipped the new Delica Mini with Kayaba Prosmooth shock absorbers and a revised suspension, tuned differently for 4WD variants. These enhancements are designed to reduce harshness and deliver a smoother ride, making the tiny van feel more stable and refined than before.
Interestingly, Mitsubishi has also revealed the new eK Space, a non-rugged sibling of the Delica Mini. While the two share the same underpinnings and most of the body, the eK Space does without the cladding, skid plates, and raised stance, instead targeting buyers who prefer a more urban-friendly kei van. Notably, Mitsubishi has discontinued the eK Cross Space, as the popularity of the Delica Mini has made that model redundant. Both the Delica Mini and eK Space are closely related to the recently unveiled Nissan Roox, highlighting the collaborative efforts within Japan’s kei car market.
The 2025 Mitsubishi Delica Mini will hit showrooms in Japan this autumn, priced between ¥1.95 million and ¥2.95 million. The eK Space will cost slightly less, ranging from ¥1.75 million to ¥1.95 million.

By channeling a bit of Pajero ruggedness, blending modern tech, and offering variety through its sibling eK Space, Mitsubishi is ensuring that this compact van continues to punch above its weight in one of the world’s most competitive small-car markets.
