WHAT? 2000 Note BANNED AGAIN? #shorts 🤯

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to withdraw the ₹2000 denomination banknotes from circulation, although they will remain legal tender. The introduction of these notes in November 2016 was to address the currency requirement after the withdrawal of ₹500 and ₹1000 notes. The RBI has instructed banks to stop issuing ₹2000 notes immediately. The majority of these banknotes, about 89%, were issued prior to March 2017 and are reaching the end of their estimated lifespan of 4-5 years. The total value of ₹2000 notes in circulation has significantly declined.
RBI expects most of the ₹2000 notes to be returned to banks within four months. The decision aligns with the "Clean Note Policy" and aims to maintain an adequate stock of other denomination banknotes. Individuals can deposit ₹2000 notes in their bank accounts or exchange them for other denominations without restrictions. Starting from May 23, 2023, the exchange of ₹2000 notes for other denominations will be limited to ₹20,000 at a time to ensure operational convenience. RBI assures that this exercise is routine and urges the public not to panic.
