This is the story of a poor father whose only dream was to see his son become an officer.
Every evening, he ran a small tea stall on the roadside. Even in the biting cold, when his hands trembled while pouring tea, he never stopped — because he wanted his son to have the chance to study. The boy, knowing the sacrifices his father made, studied with all his heart. But one night, life took a cruel turn. The father had a violent cough, and blood came out. At the hospital, the doctor revealed it was a serious illness. Lying weak on the bed, the father looked at his son and said,
"Your dream… is my cure."The son prepared for and appeared in his UPSC interview.
Days later, the results arrived — he had achieved his father’s dream. He was now an IPS officer. With pride in his heart, he brought the brand-new uniform home… only to find an empty bed.
On the wall, a garlanded photograph of his father stared back at him. His mother, tears streaming down her cheeks, whispered,
"He wanted to see you in that uniform." The young man put on the uniform for the first time, his hands trembling — not from cold, but from emotion. Standing tall, he gave his first salute… to his father’s photograph. Because when the person you fulfilled your dreams for is no longer there, even victory feels incomplete.
