Описание к видео LBSCs Evening Star. Slide valve gear in Alibre CAD.

Evening Star. LBSCs last loco build. Slide Valve gear
So there I was looking at stuff when I stumbled across the last Loco LBSC ever did in the early 1960s. It was in Practical Mechanics instead of his usual spot at Model Engineer because of various reasons and it was never finished 100%, although most of it got done before he had to step back for the last time. A few months later the publication itself, Practical Mechanics, faded from history too.
I have only used the Practical Mechanics drawings up to this point, nothing else.
So I thought let's see how much he did and I can put it up in here and the Loco guys (pun very intended) can see how much can be built before the Martin Evans completion work is started.
LBSC was 78/79 when he built this one from scratch and he usually worked on his own.
It's certainly been an interesting experience...
The bits and bobs took a week and it bolted together ok, so I thought let's do the valve gear first like I did with BAT and that lets laymen like myself see what gives.
Or doesn't give.. as it turned out..
The slide valve gear is a sort of multi connection parallelogram thing with swinging widgets and whirling doo-daas... and Alibre really didn't like that very much...
It took me the best part of a month to get to this moderate rendition of what happens at speed in the real world on an evening star locomotive.
My 6 core workstation (2018) computer usually cranks right through an Alibre constraints scenario but this one pushes the boundaries.
The biggest issue is getting this valve movement to replicate the real world environment in a multi-linkage multi-levers revolving parts scenario.
Computers blindly follow the numbers.. then stop dead if it gets confusing.
So what's here took a lot of work, a lot of fiddling and twiddling, a bit of artistic license and some organised compromise for the sake of sanity.

I will soldier on with the build itself now that this basic view (not highly accurate) has been achieved.
