Lyrics:

Pick up the pieces of your life
And try to glue them back
Make out a message from
The ones you left behind
“You will never be one of us”
“But maybe if you try”
“We could spare you”

Because when we are here in the weird zone
The gods sing in a language I don’t understand
The lights are flashing bright on my wounded eyes
I can’t see I’m blind

Once you know you have entered the weird zone
Things appear in a way that you don’t understand
Feel it touching my skin like a lover
I can’t see I’m blind

I can’t see I’m blind

I can’t see I’m blind

Well maybe if I try you could spare me
Well maybe if I try you could spare me
Well maybe if I try you could spare me
Well maybe if I try you could spare me

Floating heavy on my mind
My legs are shaking and
I feel I must have died
Is our deal over?

You know I’ve kept my word
I trust that you’ll keep yours
Then when my time will come
Then maybe if I try you could spare me

Because when we are here in the weird zone
The gods sing in a language I don’t understand
The lights are flashing bright on my wounded eyes
I can’t see I’m blind

Once you know you have entered the weird zone
Things appear in a way that you don’t understand
Feel it touching my skin like a lover
I can’t see I’m blind

(Well maybe if I try you could spare me)
I can’t see I’m blind
(Well maybe if I try you could spare me
Well maybe if I try you could spare me)
I can’t see I’m blind
(Well maybe if I try you could spare me)

Well maybe if I try you could spare me
Well maybe if I try you could spare me
Well maybe if I try you could spare me

Because when we are here in the weird zone
The gods sing in a language I don’t understand
The lights are flashing bright on my wounded eyes
I can’t see I’m blind

Once you know you have entered the weird zone
Things appear in a way that you don’t understand
Feel it touching my skin like a lover
I can’t see I’m blind

I can’t see I’m blind

Maybe if I try

I can’t see

Maybe if I try you could spare me

Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah

About this song (if you feel like reading):

This hyperpop/drum and bass surreal track is actually based on a very real experience I went through.

I wrote and produced this song after a near-death experience I had the day I gave birth to my baby. I had to get an emergency c-section, and because I am part ginger, the anesthetic hadn’t really hit the way it should have, and I felt everything. Beyond the pain, the doctors forgot to give me some medication I needed, since I have a blood-clotting disorder, and I almost effectively bled out to death.

While I was out and on very strong pain medications, I had a dream about me being on the other side, with these tall, glowing beings surrounding me, who were in a way testing the worth of my soul. We danced, they put flowers in my hair, and then they sent me back. I woke up in a hospital room, with my baby sleeping on one of those transparent basinets.

To me it felt it was more than a dream, but an esoteric, dare I say spiritual experience. Somehow letting me know it was not my time yet to leave this planet, and there’s still more for me to live and experience.

A few days after, when we were back home, I knew I had to put this into a song. I tried to play homage to my favourite childhood genres, jungle and drum and bass, and took a little bit of inspiration from SOPHIE, who will always be in my heart one of the greatest producers. She is greatly missed.

“Wrydd”, named after the Norse/Anglo-Saxon concepts of fate, is the first single from my upcoming album “Cut The Line”

If you read all of this, thanks for being here, and hope you enjoyed the song!
