Sexual purity is not only pleasing to God; it is demanded by God. I believe it is the Church’s responsibility to faithfully teach what God demands of His creation regarding sexual intimacy. Why should the Church ever allow the world to have a louder voice in this? Why should the Church allow the world to indoctrinate our families and children in a godless and perverted viewpoint of sexuality when the Lord has spoken clearly on what He demands of His creation?

In 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8, the Apostle Paul explains to the Thessalonians what God demands of our sexual purity: holiness. As God has called us to holiness, He has also called us to sexual purity. This is a major aspect of our sanctification; our being made more and more like Christ in holiness unto the Father. In this passage he lists out three demands which God expects of us: 1) that we abstain from sexual immorality; 2) that we control our bodies and passions; 3) that we not sin sexually with or against any of our Christian family. Then, Paul provides three reasons for these demands: 1) God has called us to holiness; 2) To disregard the demand of sexual purity is to disregard God; 3) God has given His Holy Spirit to us.
