While SIG Sauer is well-known as one of the top firearms producers in the world, they also happen to be one of the top optic producers as well. SIG launched their optics division nearly seven years ago and wasted absolutely no time in knocking other well-known manufacturers right back on their heels.

A good example is SIG’s new KILO8K-ABS laser range finder that uses SIG’s XR (extended range) technology that is capable of pushing the KILO8K out to a maximum reflective range of 8,000 yards. The spoiler alert is that I was able to hit a street sign at 6,800 yards, which was approaching 4 miles away. That is an incredible distance, to say the least, and unlike any commercially available laser range finder I’ve used to date, and definitely one that will fit in your pants pocket and weighs just 7.5 ounces …

The KILO8K-ABS is far more than just a high-power laser range finder. It also features connectivity capabilities compatible with Kestrel and Garmin devices, BaseMap and SIG’s own BDX smartphone apps. The KILO8K also uses Applied Ballistics Ultralite software to make real-time ballistic calculations and port that information into compatible SIG’s BDX (Ballistic Data Exchange) optics.
