Fly Fishing Lake Estes in Estes Park, Colorado

Fly Casting in Estes Park, Colorado in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The Estes Valley provides magnificent views, clean mountain air, abundant wildlife and Rocky Mountain hospitality. Estes is also home to the famous Stanley Hotel and is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Lake Estes is surrounded by 4 miles of shoreline and is contained by the Olympus Dam and fed by the Big Thompson River. The Olympus Dam was created to produce hydroelectricity and is maintained by the Bureau of Reclamation. The Lake Estes Marina is located on the East end of the lake where permits, licenses, fishing gear and boating equipment are available for recreationists.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife stocks Lake Estes with trout although Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout can be caught in Lake Estes and the Big Thompson River above and below the Olympus Dam. The drive from the Greeley area to Estes Park is approximately 1 hour & 15 minutes through Loveland and the scenic Big Thompson Canyon.
