We are calling for immediate legal action against the police officers responsible for the horrific treatment of Geetha, a young breastfeeding Dalit mother. Geetha was subjected to brutal physical torture and kept in illegal imprisonment for over 20 days based on a completely fabricated complaint.
Activists and human rights defenders are demanding:
Immediate suspension and arrest of the involved officers.
A high-level independent inquiry into the fabricated charges.
Compensation and protection for Geetha and her infant child.
This is a grave violation of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and fundamental human rights. We cannot remain silent while the protectors of law become the perpetrators of violence.
