While the Ancient Greeks may have invented the first
computer, Socrates developed the original social network, and you
could credit Homer with creating the first meme. At a stretch.

James Dempster will delve deeper into Ancient Greek philosophy,
mythology and politics to uncover learnings that can help us make
sense of our modern media experience James is a digital marketing professional with a passion for history. Having studied Archaeology at University, James now runs a Digital Marketing agency in Brighton and focuses his time on supporting businesses that make a difference to the world we live in. Living in Shoreham with his wife and two young children, James enjoys exploring the South Downs, trying the new restaurants Brighton has to offer and visiting local historical attractions. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
