Описание к видео The onsen with 1200 years history and 160-years-old inn - Hoshi Onsen Chojukan Gunma JAPAN | 4K Vlog

I stayed at Hoshi Onsen Chojukan, one of the best hidden hot spring inns in the Kanto region.

It is said that Hoshi Onsen was discovered by Kobo Daishi over 1200 years ago. During the Meiji period, it developed into a hot spring town with several inns, but due to the flooding of the Hoshi River, Chojukan is the only inn left.

It is also known as a hidden hot spring loved by literary figures such as Yosano Akiko and Kawabata Yasunari, and Mr. Okamoto Mitsugu, who founded Chojukan during the Meiji period, contributed to the development of the region after the Meiji Restoration and built the foundations of the Joetsu Line, known as the model for Yasunari Kawabata's "Snow Country." It is very interesting to unravel these historical relationships.

It is also a representative inn of the Japan Association of Secluded Hot Spring Inns. The first chairman was Mr. Okamoto of Chojukan. This place can be said to be the origin of hidden hot springs.

All three large baths are attractive, but Hoshi-no-yu is in a class of its own because of its appearance. This well-known hot spring, often featured on the cover of magazines, has a source temperature of 43 degrees, and fresh hot spring water flows directly from the gravel laid at the foot.

There are only about 30 foot-spring inns in the whole country where you can enjoy the hot spring water directly without coming into contact with the air. The inn industry often goes out of business due to a lack of personnel and successors, and I hear that several foot-spring inns have gone out of business in the last 10 years. Hoshinoyu, one of the most representative foot-spring inns in the country, is an original hidden hot spring that I hope will continue to convey its charm in the future.

The history, hot springs, and buildings make this a first-class hidden hot spring inn. Please come and visit.
