Deltacron?! There's a combined Delta and Omicron COVID variant now? Is this real? Is it even possible? Let's find out...

COVID-19 has dominated the news for the past 2 years, and during that time, several new strains have popped up, the major ones being the Alpha variant, Delta variant, and most recently the Omicron variant. Variants under monitoring include the so-called IHU variant.

This so-called "Deltacron" variant is purported to be a hybrid of Delta and Omicron variants, and has been reported in Cyprus.

But is it a genuinely new coronavirus variant, or simply a result of laboratory contamination? Most scientists seem to think the latter, but it's still a matter of debate.
