Baby Bear gazes at the Moon one evening and decides that he would like to visit it, but Mrs Bear reminds him that he can’t go as it is bath time and anyway he has to find a rocket first.

Baby bear is determined to go, so he searches around the house until he finds a space rocket (a cardboard box) under the stairs, a space helmet (a colander) in the kitchen and a pair of space boots (wellies) and sets out on his journey.

On the way, Baby Bear makes friends with an owl who joins him on his magical adventure to the Moon and an aeroplane full of passengers who wave at the Baby Bear.

Baby Bear and owl enjoy a picnic on the Moon and then set off back for Baby Bear’s bath. He makes the long journey back, through the rain and ready to get in his bath. He gets back and tells his mom about his wonderful adventure to the Moon but she doesn’t believe him and think he is just making up a story.

Whatever Next makes for a perfect bedtime story book for young children with its simplistic language and beautiful illustrations full of warmth.
