The Beauty of Power Networks Flexibility: Introduction

I have been working on the flexibility of active (smart) distribution networks for about 2 years now. This is an exciting and extremely useful topic that is attracting increasing attention from both academia and industry. Finally, I managed to explain the usefulness of flexibility on YouTube and, hopefully, demonstrate its beauty.

Modern distribution networks incorporate increasing amounts of renewable and distributed energy resources. If well-coordinated, these resources provide flexibility services and support the development of active distribution networks. Such networks can aggregate flexible power from multiple distributed resources and actively manage network power consumption and generation. In this introductory video, I cover the basics of network flexibility modelling, including the concept of P-Q flexibility areas.
