Hello and welcome back to another Hiking in Colorado adventure! It has been a long time since I have been able to shoot a new hiking video! I have been recovery from ACL surgery since I tore it back at the end of last July (2018). I was cleared to do longer distance walks so we decided to do Mount Falcon from the west trailhead. Mount Falcon is just outside of Morrison and is a great option when considering different Colorado day hikes This particular route was just over 2.1 miles and around 450 feet of elevation gain.

I originally tore it back in 2012 so this was a reinjury. Repairing it this time required two surgeries. My first surgery was in August and my second surgery was in November. The first surgery consisted of removing the failed graft as well as bone grafting the tunnels from my previous ACL reconstruction surgery back in 2012. After careful consideration and discussion with my surgeon, I opted to use a hamstring autograft this time around. The second surgery involved harvesting tissue from my right hamstring to replace the failed graft from the original ACL reconstruction. It took three months to heal from the bone graft until they could do the second surgery. I am now 4 months post-op and just started Week 13 of physical therapy. The total recovery period is 9 months.
