Hearts of iron - Sabaton [ Lyrics & Visualizer ]

Описание к видео Hearts of iron - Sabaton [ Lyrics & Visualizer ]

In the waning days of World War II, as the Allies closed in on Berlin, the German 12th Army, led by General Walther Wenck, was reconstituted near the Elbe River. Its mission was to execute a daring rescue operation during the Battle of Berlin. Reactivated on April 10, 1945, the 12th Army consisted of several corps, including the XLVIII, XX, and XXXI. Despite being heavily outnumbered, General Wenck’s forces made a valiant last attempt to relieve the besieged capital. They managed to reach Potsdam but were ultimately halted by the superior Soviet Red Army forces. The operation’s failure marked the end of any hope to save Berlin from Soviet capture.

However, the 12th Army’s efforts were not entirely in vain. In the chaos of the Soviet breakthrough, General Wenck provided a corridor to the west for German soldiers and refugees to escape. Between May 4 and May 7, 1945, they crossed the partially destroyed Elbe River bridge at Tangermünde and surrendered to American forces. This act of humanity allowed thousands to avoid the fate of falling into Soviet hands. The 12th Army’s operation, though unsuccessful in its primary objective, became a poignant footnote in the history of the war, symbolizing the desperation and turmoil of the conflict’s final days.

CAUTION!
I won't tolerate any racist, discriminatory or in any other form inappropriate comments! This song neither glorifies war, nor National Socialism, but should be considered as a historical work.
"No, we don't glorify anything, we just tell stories about things that have happened." (Rikard Sundén, Sabaton)
