Indian Farmers Protest in Sacramento, California

Описание к видео Indian Farmers Protest in Sacramento, California

Thousands protested in Sacramento yesterday in solidarity with the Indian Farmers movement taking place across the globe since September. Demonstrators are frustrated with Indian Prime Minister Modi and changes to agricultural laws they say will negatively impact how much farmers will make when selling their crops.

The large protest caravan in Sacramento, which first gathered at Sacramento State before heading downtown to gather outside the California State Capitol, included a variety of vehicles ranging from farm machinery to high-end sports cars and pickup trucks. The protesters even brought some of these vehicles onto the Capitol Mall green belt before police (who had recently finished patrolling other protests nearby) moved in to disperse them.

A peaceful rally overall as demonstrators push for greater visibility and urge the US government to call for change (one Congressman, Representative John Garamendi, has already sent a letter to the Indian Ambassador in the US requesting action on the issue).
