PM Modi, European Leaders Discuss Russia-Ukraine War, India-EU FTA Amid Trump Tariffs | N18G

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a joint call with European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, focusing on trade, connectivity, and global security. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to conclude the long-pending India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by the end of 2025 and discussed the swift implementation of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC). The leaders also exchanged views on the Ukraine conflict, with the EU welcoming India’s continued engagement with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Stressing that the war poses a threat to global security and economic stability, the EU underscored India’s role in fostering peace. The two sides agreed to finalise a joint strategic agenda at the next EU–India summit, planned for 2026.
