Definition
Bottle feeding is the method of providing milk or formula to an infant using a feeding bottle when breastfeeding is not possible or as a supplement.
Indications
Preterm babies
Poor sucking or weak reflex
Mother unable to breastfeed
Failure to thrive
Post-illness recovery
Procedure (Brief)
Wash hands and sterilize bottle
Prepare milk/formula correctly
Hold baby in semi-upright position
Ensure proper latch on bottle teat
Feed slowly, observe swallowing
Burp baby after feeding
Complications (if improper)
Aspiration
Choking
Overfeeding
Infection
2️⃣ Nebulization
Definition
Nebulization is the process of delivering medication in mist form directly into the lungs using a nebulizer.
Indications
Bronchiolitis
Wheeze / asthma
Respiratory distress
Pneumonia
Excessive secretions
Common Drugs Used
Salbutamol
Ipratropium bromide
Normal saline / hypertonic saline
Budesonide (in selected cases)
Procedure
Place drug in nebulizer chamber
Apply mask properly (nose + mouth)
Oxygen/air flow 6–8 L/min
Duration: 5–10 minutes
Monitor SpO₂, RR, HR

3️⃣ Chest Physiotherapy (CPT)
Definition
Chest physiotherapy is a technique used to mobilize and remove airway secretions to improve breathing.
Indications
Bronchiolitis
Pneumonia

Prolonged ventilation
Techniques
Postural drainage
Percussion (clapping)
Vibration
Gentle suction (if needed)
Procedure (Infants)
Done before feeding
Gentle percussion using cupped hand
Proper positioning according to lung area
Duration: 5–10 minutes
Observe for desaturation or distress
Contraindications
Severe respiratory distress
Unstable neonate
Recent surgery
Pneumothorax
