Hey guys! This is a tutorial on handlettering for beginners. I know there are countless different styles out there, but I figured I should start on the more simple style first and help you get used to using a brush pen. The main key to using a brush pen is knowing where thick and thin lines need to be, and also understanding the letterforms. This isnt something you will be able to do straight off the bat, it does take practise and time, much like everything! If you're finding it difficult, dont get frustrated, just have a break and come back to it, you'll get a grasp of it soon enough. When I was starting out, I must have gone through 50 sketchbooks and hundreds of pieces of paper, just practising, so there are no shortcuts to this, just take your time and keep repeating the letters until you're comfortable with it. I really do hope this tutorial has helped you, I know it has been widely requested, but I didnt want to just jump straight into the deep end, it's always best to start with the basics!
Below I have linked some community type pages on instagram that I follow, they regularly upload work from a variety of different designers, and this is a great way for you to discover other designers, and an amazing source of inspiration. You can see what styles other people are working on, and even use their work as guidance for letterforms. This is how I started and following these pages has helped me exponentially.
