Pina colada in the original version needs 1 part each of white rum and coconut milk, and 3 parts of pineapple juice. If you have readymade coconut milk at home, it is even easier to make. But as most of us do not have coconut milk, and as the coconut milk freshly extracted at home has a much better flavour, and as it is really very easy to extract coconut milk at home, I will show you the ‘totally homemade from scratch’ version of pina colada. Also, I use sugar in this recipe. My sweet tooth will rot if I have to have a fruit drink without sugar in it. And I am sure it is the case with most of us Indians. Also, the pineapples we are getting in the market these days is not very sweet; most of the times it has a tartness which ruins the drink. So, on the whole, it is better to use sugar, but you can adjust the quantity as per your preference.
