Hakuba Happo One. Japans No.1 ski resort.

Описание к видео Hakuba Happo One. Japans No.1 ski resort.

I’m loving these spring days here in Hakuba. It’s been perfect weather most of this week. Usually the nights cool down enough to harden up the pistes for some speedy runs then it softens up to nice slushy conditions. I don’t understand why a lot of people complain about slush. I love throwing that stuff around.
So I did a few days up at Happo One this week or as some might call it Happo 1. Anybody that has been there before has probably got caught in that mogul field. (let me know if you are one of those). Maybe it‘s a right of passage and everyone is meant to experience it. My first time in there had just a little fresh snow which I reckon made it worse. As I said everybody should at least know how to navigate that type of terrain. If you don’t then it’s good to grab a lesson. You don’t have to perfect it. You just need to know how to get out of it. Just another tip - Don’t send your kids in there. This week I also did a hike up to the Happo pond. It’s a great time of year to go for a wander and enjoy the scenery. My transition there from winter to summer didn’t really work that well but I am sure you get the idea. I’ll leave you today with a lunch at Yamanami just down from Echoland on the Olympic road . Chef Okazawa san is brilliant on the teppen grill. The lunch bowls are one of my favs in Hakuba and great value for money. Take a seat at the counter if available and watch the master work. Open for dinner too for an awesome wagyu steak.

See you next week.

Our drink this week is a favourite of many of our regulars. Hess Select cabernet sauvignon 2016 from the Napa Valley in the USA. A great drop.

Video footage was taken with the DJI Pocket 2.

Editing is with Davinci Resolve 17.
