Established in 1935 the Mt. Lawn Speedway has been the major attraction in Henry County, Indiana for over 80 years. Many Indianapolis 500 race drivers made their way up through the ranks by using this track including Pat O'Connor, Tony Stewart, Ed Carpenter and others.

Next to the track was the resort of "Mt. Lawn" which featured a series of log cabins, a dance hall, gas station and swimming pool. Originally designed for people visiting the speedway, the resort became a permanent residence for people out of work during the great Chrysler layoff in 1950. It's also reported that gangsters such as Dillinger hid out at this resort from time to time. The dance hall, which burned down twice, featured big name acts like Tommy Dorsey.

Today only the foundations of a few of the cabins remain but the stories live on. A true ghost town in central Indiana.
