Join us as we Show you the best things to do and places to visit on Holiday in Devon, UK.
From Brixham to Torquay, Dartmouth to Paignton. We show you what you need to do when you do to Devon on holiday to ensure you get the most out of it.
1 - Brixham - This stunning fishing town is renowned for it's beauty and relaxed atmosphere. It has stunning harbour where you can see a replica of the famous Golden Hind. The ship that was owned by Sir Francis Drake. It is home to tens of boats and yachts and of course plenty of amazing fish and shops. For kids it is a great place to go crabbing and eat ice cream from one of the many ice cream stalls.
2 - St Mary's bay - Brixham's best beach. This stunning sand and shingle beach is definitely worth a visit if you are in Brixham. Head towards Sharkham Point and be prepared for a lot of steps. But when you reach the bottom you will find the walk was worth it. As you will see in the video, this beach has got pebbles & shingles at the high end but if you visit when the tide is out you will be greeted by vast expanses of sand. Making the ideal location for kayaking, rock pool fishing, paddling and swimming.
3 - Brixham Breakwater Beach - If you do not fancy the steps and the walking to get to St Mary's Bay, At the end of the harbour in Brixham you will Brixham Harbour beach. This is a pebble beach, so make sure you have flip flops or beach shoes handy if you plan on going there for a swim. There is a café situated here and parking.
4 - Berry Head - On the coastal headland that forms the Southern boundary of Torbay, site Berry Head. A National Nature reserve that is home to a Napoleonic fort, Lighthouse, Amazing views and the Guardhouse Café, which is worth visiting for their incredible Devon Cream teas.
Walk to the edge of the coastline and it is possible to see dolphins and an array of various seabirds. It also has a carpark and great coastal path walks allowing you to walk around to St Mary's bay or back in to Brixham town.
5 - Churston Court Inn - If you fancy a well earned drink when you leave Brixham, make sure you stop off at Churston Court Inn. Filled with history, this historic building dates back to the 12th century. It is occupied with old suits of Armour, that all appear to be standing on duty to keep things in order. Not only that it also serves great food and has a great selection of drinks.
6 & 7- Paignton Pier & Fair - Situated between Brixham and Torquay, this coastal holiday town is famous for it's long red and beach and pier. The Pier is home to hundreds of arcade machines and will keep your kids occupied for ages, much to the displeasure of your wallet! Then if you are visiting during school holidays it is most likely that you will also find the fair present on the huge green. But do not worry if you do not have the budget for the fair or arcade as it also has a huge park ,with free rides and climbing frames, see saws etc. If you need a drink or a bite to eat, you will not have to walk far as it is also home to a few pubs and restaurants situated on the far side of the green.
8 - The English Riviera Wheel - If you are in Devon, it is a must that you visit Torquay. Most famous for being the location of the iconic British comedy Fawlty Towers. It is also the home of the English Riviera Wheel. Devon's answer to the London Eye. Take a ride on this and see amazing views of the whole Torbay area and amazing yachts all situated in Torquay Harbour.
9 & 10 - Goodrington Sands & Park - This long sandy beach is not just a great place to go when the weather is good enough for a paddle or swim, but it also has a great park area, with bouncy castles, crazy golf, boat rides and mini Go carts.
11 - Dartmouth - This stunning coastal town is probably one of the nicest in the UK. Filled with independent boutique shops, pubs, a castle and a fort! History and amazing views all in one. It is also home to the Royal Yacht Regatta every August, so if you visit in the Summer, be prepared for it to be busy.
12 - Babbacombe - Home to a couple of great shingle beaches and a rail cart that you can take down to the beaches. At the bottom you will find shops and bars, making it a great beach to go to if you fancy spending a day down there. As you will see, we got a bit confused with the names?
13 - Broadsands. This is one of the better sandy beaches, great for swimming and it also gives access to a great coastal path walk around to Elberry Cove. Home of Lord Churstons Bath House
14 - A trip to Devon would not be complete without Fishing. And we thoroughly recommend mackerel fishing from Brixham.
