In July 2025, NASA's ATLAS telescope discovered something extraordinary: a comet from beyond our solar system, racing through space at 153,000 mph. Scientists estimate it's 7-14 billion years old—making it 3 billion years OLDER than our entire solar system.
This is only the 3rd interstellar object EVER discovered visiting our cosmic neighborhood, and it just made its closest approach to Earth on December 19, 2025. It will pass Jupiter in March 2026, and then leave our solar system forever, never to return.
