Glazing Techniques in Oil and Cold Wax

IN THIS VIDEO: You’ll watch me put veils of color on a painting to finish it with subtle changes, luminosity and vibrancy. Adding glazes is THE BIGGEST question I get from students in classes so I’m always trying to find clearer and clearer ways of explaining and /or showing how to do it well.
Cold wax medium makes glazing a lot easier. When I learned how to glaze with traditional oil in France, it took years of trial and error to really master it. Cold wax attracted me in the first place because this process of layering up transparent layers is so much simpler, and drying time a lot faster. That being said, pretty much all the techniques I show here can be applied to acrylic paint too.
