TIFFIN, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) A Johnson County city is making some major changes.

Just last month the City of Tiffin unveiled their goal setting report, and in it are the many objectives they hope to accomplish in the next two years.

Tiffin, it's a bedroom community that's turning into something more.

The census did a mock review about a year ago in 2012 and they say we were the fastest growing city in Iowa and they estimated us to be about 23-2400 at that point, said Mischon Jackson, Tiffin City Administrator and Clerk.

That review estimates that the city will double in size in three to five years.

Add the new school that will soon be built into consideration and expectation is that the population will triple in three to seven years.

The school bond passed recently in February for Clear Creek Amana. They are putting an elementary school in town so we're working with them to get sewer and water into the site, we're putting in turn lanes on highway six.

Then there's the Ireland Avenue extension project.

It s been in the works for almost 12 years now.

City leaders learned this week that the construction will start soon.

The final plans were just submitted to the DOT two days ago which means it's in their hands so they will go to bid hopefully the third week of June, said Mayor%
