In the year 1603, across the wild expanses of Ezo (modern Hokkaidō), the land trembles under the shadow of Mount Yōtei. Six ruthless warlords—known as the Yōtei Six—brought ruin to one family sixteen years ago, slaughtering their home, tearing the past to ash.
Now, a lone mercenary named Atsu returns, reborn as a spirit of vengeance. Under the guise of an onryō (a vengeful ghost in folklore), she hunts each member of the Yōtei Six, determined to reclaim justice and restore balance to her shattered life. Her path weaves through betrayal, hidden alliances, and ancient secrets buried beneath snow and mist.
In Ghost of Yōtei, you don’t follow a single path—you choose your order. The six targets are scattered, and your choices shape the journey. (One note: the Snake and Lord Saitō often anchor the ends of the story, but much else is open.) 

Alongside her quest, Atsu becomes the reluctant leader of a “Wolf Pack”—a ragtag unit of allies, including her lost brother Jubei, the repentant Oyuki, and the innocent child Kiku. Together, they confront the darkest powers behind the Yōtei Six, including Lord Saitō himself, in a final duel for honor, revenge, and redemption.

Sucker Punch took inspiration from feudal Japan, cinema, and the myths of Hokkaidō in crafting Ghost of Yōtei. To ensure authenticity, the team traveled across northern Japan, recorded natural sounds in places like Shiretoko National Park, and consulted with cultural advisors.  They aimed to preserve the sensibilities of Ghost of Tsushima—its honor, beauty, samurai spirit—while expanding the world and giving players more agency in how the vengeance unfolds.
