The Juan Soto Nationals may be a streaky team, but Juan Soto is perhaps the most consistent man in baseball. The 20 year old rocketed into the majors last year and immediately became one of the best hitters in baseball. In this episode of Baseball Bits, an MLB video essay series presented by Foolish Baseball, we'll be talking about Juan Soto minors days, as well as 2018, the Juan Soto rookie year. Heck, we even rewind all the way back to the amateur Juan Soto days when he was doing showcases.

The Washington Nationals are lucky to have a player of this talent, especially after the departure of Bryce Harper. We'll also talk about Trout as we find the MLB best rookie seasons. This also functions as a discussion of the best 19 year olds in MLB, and best teenagers in MLB. You can't bring up Juan Soto without having a conversation about the best young hitters in the league.

So while we'll talk about young Bryce Harper and young Mike Trout, we'll also talk about Ty Cobb, Mel Ott, and Tony Conigliaro for added historical context.

We'll also see how Juan Soto rocketed through the minor leagues in 2018. That Juan Soto 2018 is certainly a season to remember, but equally impressive is Juan Soto 2019.

The biggest takeaway is that Soto's OBP is elite, and that's what sets him apart. He is the Dominican god of walks. Juan Soto walks 15-16% of the time, which is pretty darn rare.
