CAPIZtahan 2024 Historical Parade & Street Dancing Performances Full Coverage

CAPIZTAHAN, the biggest and longest annual festival in the province of Capiz, showcases the rich culture and history of the province, including its capital Roxas City.
This year’s edition of the festival, officially kicked off on April 11 and will run until May 1, is poised to leave a lasting mark on history.

Gov. Fredenil H. Castro’s determination and optimistic outlook magnify the confidence in the success of this year’s Capiztahan 2024.

Capiztahan 2024’s grandest events – Maragtas sang Capisnon Historical Parade and Performances – are happening this Saturday, April 27.

These events will feature 20 grand floats with elaborated displays and over 20 dance drama performances depicting the pivotal events in the historical timeline of the province of Capiz spanning pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial eras.

The day will open with street dancing and historical parade at 7 a.m. from SM City Roxas to Pueblo de Panay Techno Park.

Locals and tourists alike will also be treated to an afternoon full of exceptional talents through dance drama performances that will commence at 4:30 p.m. at the Pueblo de Panay. A Pyromusical Show will follow at 10:30 p.m.

Capiztahan 2024 also coincides with the celebration of the 123rd Founding Anniversary of the Civil Government of Capiz.

With the tagline “Capiztahan 2024, Gapisik Pisik sa Kalipay, Where Fresh Fun Never Ends,” the provincial government aims for the celebration not only to be centered in the capital city of Roxas but to also bring the festivities to Capiznons in different towns.

Meanwhile, one of the most remarkable highlights thus far of the Capiztahan 2024 was the astounding achievement of nearly 150,000 attendees at the StrEAT Party, featuring performances by Gloc 9, Yeng Constantino and Ivana Alawi, in Pueblo de Panay TechnoPark on April 20.

Another aspect deserving celebration is the rich tapestry of local products and traditions of Capiznons through the “Manindahan Ta! Maragtas Street Market.” It showcases the talents of local artisans and the abundance of locally made products. Here, locals and visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant offerings of agri-farm products, handicrafts by artisans and Indigenous Peoples communities, decor, kakanin, and locally processed food. Each municipality takes pride in presenting their unique booth, offering the craftsmanship of their towns. It opened its doors on April 22, and this market remains open to the public until the conclusion of Capiztahan 2024.

Indeed, Capiztahan 2024 transcends mere celebration; it represents a notable cultural elevation, bringing history and modernity together through art and festivity. With ambitions to become one of the premier festivals in the country and beyond, as fate permits, it also serves to promote tourism and invite economic advancement in the whole province of Capiz./PN
