When I drove back from work i had an error in the car. All lights on in the cockpit and it didnt accelerate. I drove home like a turtle to the max of about 60 km/h.
When i got to the toyota garage the mechanics read the error code and told me its the agr/egr valve. Maybe a cleanup can help (would be 100Euro) but first they would have a look. I looked how they removed the valve. They showed me the part and said its not cleanable its defective. You could see light shining through the valve, so its not closing good enough. A new part would be 500 €. I decided to look for it in the internet and didn't find a new part for a good price. So i decided to try to clean the thing myself. And to say it short i did it. Its quite easy with the right tools.
So now every spring i am going to clean this thing up in order to prevent a new failure.

I made this video tutorial to remember how to do it and to help you if you got the same issue. Could be a good advice to clean this thing if you are recognizing power loss too.

Eines Tages hatte ich auf dem Rueckweg von der Arbeit einen Fehler am Auto. Im Cockpit gingen mehrere Warnleuchten an und das Auto nahm kein Gas mehr. Also schlich ich nach Hause zum freundlichen Toyota Händler in die Werkstatt. Nach dem Auslesen des Fehlercodes hiess es AGR Ventil defekt. Die Mechaniker meinten, es liesse sich vielleicht reinigen (wuerde 100 Euro kosten). Sie schauten also nach und ich dabei zu. Sie zeigten mir das Teil und sagten, es waere defekt. Man sah Licht durch das Ventil scheinen, es schloss also nicht richtig. Ein neues Teil wuerde mit Einbau 500 Euro kosten. Ich wollte lieber im Internet nach diesem Teil schauen, konnte aber nichts preiswertes finden. Also entschloss ich mich dazu, zu versuchen das Teil selbst zu reinigen. Und das hat funktioniert! Nun mache ich das Ding jedes Jahr im Fruehjahr einmal sauber, damit mir das nicht nochmal passiert.

Ich habe dieses Video gemacht, damit ich nicht vergesse wie man es macht und vielleicht hilft es ja dem einen oder anderen mit dem gleichen Problem.

Es koennte auch bei Leistungsverlust ratsam sein, das Ventil zu reinigen.
