The Supreme Court has reserved its order on the plea seeking a stay on the removal of stray dogs in Delhi-NCR to shelter homes. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta highlighted public safety concerns, presenting data showing 37 lakh dog bites and 305 rabies deaths in 2024. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal questioned the preparedness of shelter homes and sterilisation measures. The court’s decision will determine how stray dogs are managed in the region.
