Taking advantage of a little free time on a Friday afternoon in October, I decided to take a leisurely walk along the Avon River in Stratford, Ontario, Canada to enjoy the last of the autumn colours as well as the fading blooms in the Shakespearean Gardens.

I learned two things after my walk. One was, although I am a regular visitor to Stratford and have been for many years, I always thought the gardens were called "Shakespeare's Gardens" when in fact they are "The Shakespearean Gardens." My apologies for my mispronunciations in my little video.

As promised, I researched the chimney in the Gardens a bit more. Dufton Woolen Mills was the original occupant of the Gardens' property. The Mill was built in 1874. In 1919, there was a terrible fire. The 65' chimney is all that was left standing. In the 1930s, local businessmen proposed to turn the vacant land into a city garden as an homage to William Shakespeare.

This is my first attempt at a "walk and talk" video (just me and my iphone) so am very much a beginner. I hope you enjoy it.
