Hi everyone! In this video, I explore Fira, the capital of the iconic Greek island Santorini — a dream destination and bucket list favorite for many. Join me on this free and fun walking tour of the town!

🌋 We begin in the town center, where I dive into the Minoan eruption — one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history — and its deep connection to Santorini. I also share some background on the island’s geography, population, and the fascinating story of the Hotel Atlantis.

🚶 Along the way, I pass bustling restaurants, chat briefly with a local, and explore charming alleys and walkways. You'll learn about the origin of the name 'Santorini', the island’s Venetian and Ottoman influences, and how the island bounced back economically after World War II. I also touch on the traditional use of donkeys as a key form of transport on the island.

🛵 I stop by a local business offering rental transport and say hello to someone who helped me find accommodation when I first arrived. Then, I take you on a quick tour of my hotel room before heading toward the cliff path — but not before encountering more beautiful churches, flora, and architecture that reveal the rich daily life of the island.

⛪ Up on the cliffs, I share stories of major events that shaped Santorini, including the 1956 Amorgos earthquake. I also dive into the myth of Plato's Lost City of Atlantis, and why many believe Santorini could have been his inspiration.
