Orion Assembly will build the electrified Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Utilizing the GM-developed Ultium Platform, which offers the business the flexibility to design cars for any client and market, GM is investing $4 billion to transform the factory to make electric trucks. When the factory is fully operating, this investment is anticipated to provide more than 2,350 new employment to Orion while keeping around 1,000 present positions. According to GM, new employees and transfers from inside the company will fill the new positions at Orion. In 2024, Orion will start producing electric trucks like the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado EV. A considerable facility and capacity increase at the location, including new body and paint shops, general assembly, and battery pack assembly sections, will be facilitated by the Orion investment. Throughout the redevelopment of the factory, production of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV will continue. On-site work starts right away.
