This shows the Chainlink Dare UHF long range system (by BEVRC) connected to a Spektrum DX5e transmitter. I used the back-side of the trainer port, soldering onto its connection to the main-board inside the transmitter. It turns out if one of the wires is grounded, it powers up the control and PPM circuitry, and not the actual 2.4 GHz transmitter. So, the external switch takes care of that. Then a small voltage regulator powers the Chainlink Dare from a 2s Lipo.

It should be noted that the UHF Tx here is in on a freq (433 Mhz) that requires a license. I am studying to get my license, in the meantime I keep the Tx in testing mode which broadcasts at super low power, about 10 foot range.

And where's the Spektrum 2.4 GHz radio antenna? While I had the Tx open, it got hot glued inside the DX5e itself. If this effects range, I haven't noticed (and I can switch to the LRS) . It is out of the way now, and I've got a hole to run the PPM signal out. I can go into more detail on the pinouts of the trainer port, and what I used for a voltage regulator, if anyone needs it.
