Welcome to our video about facts about question marks for kids! In this video, we'll be exploring some interesting facts about this important punctuation mark.

A question mark is a punctuation mark that is used to indicate a question. It is used at the end of a sentence that asks a question.

The question mark is a fairly recent addition to written language. It was first used in the 9th century by a scribe named Alcuin of York, who introduced it into the Latin alphabet.

The question mark is written as a single vertical line with a dot above it. It looks like this: ?. In some fonts, the dot may be placed above the line or below the line.

The question mark is used to indicate a direct question, which is a question that expects an answer. For example: "What is your name?" is a direct question because it expects the listener to provide their name.

The question mark is also used to indicate an indirect question, which is a question that is embedded in a statement or a clause. For example: "I was wondering if you could help me with this." The phrase "if you could help me with this" is an indirect question because it is embedded in the statement "I was wondering."

In some languages, such as Spanish and French, the question mark is used to indicate not only questions, but also uncertainty or doubt. For example: "¿Qué hora es?" (What time is it?) and "Je ne sais pas" (I don't know).
