Steve and Linda Hammalian of Little Treasury Jewelers along with Craig Shipp of  MidAtlanticTV.com attended a special private event hosted by Grand Seiko in New York City on October 17.  

Entitled “The Nature of Time,” the event was a voyage through the Japanese spirituality of time and the poetry of the 24 seasons, showcasing Grand Seiko’s latest Special Edition Collection: SBGA415 Winter, SBGA413 Spring,  SBGH271 Summer, and SBGH273 Fall.

Guests were welcomed into a gallery space where various Grand Seiko timepieces were on display, including some new references soon to be on the market.

A selection of colorful cocktails was offered, representing the four principal seasons, along with hors d’oeuvres.  A master watchmaker demonstrated his skills, assembling a watch movement while Joe Kirk, Grand Seiko’s USA trainer answered questions.

Mr. Brice le Traudec, President of Grand Seiko of America and Mr. Russell Rowlands, Vice President, were gracious hosts, mingling with the guests.

Mr. Suji Takahashi, president and chief operating officer of Seiko Watch Corporation offered welcoming remarks followed by Grand Seiko of America Chairman, Mr. Akio Naito.  A stunning video presentation of the Four Seasons followed, after which the 24 guests were escorted to the dining hall where lunch was served.

And what a lunch it was, with the sequentially served dishes representing the four principal seasons, paired with La Caravelle Champagne and Suntory Hibiki whiskey.

Fully sated from the wonderful watches on display and a stellar lunch we said our goodbyes to fellow dealers and the Grand Seiko hosts and headed out into the brisk autumn air for a short walk to Penn Station and our return train to Maryland.
