Jo Stafford 'Beautiful Isle Of Somewhere' 78 RPM

Описание к видео Jo Stafford 'Beautiful Isle Of Somewhere' 78 RPM

One of the all time greats Jo Stafford was born in 1917, because of the depression she gave up the desire to become an opera singer and joined with her sisters and performed as the Stafford Sisters. When her sisters married the group split and Jo joined the Pied Pipers and caught the attention of Tommy Dorsey's arranger Paul Weston who persuaded Dorsey to sign the group. They recorded with Dorsey's orchestra backing Frank Sinatra on his early recordings. Jo went solo in 1944. Her solo career produced many million sellers throughout the 40's and 50's, She went into semi retirement in 1966 and didn't perform again until 1990 in a ceremony honouring Frank Sinatra. Jo died aged 90 in 2008. I can find no mention of this recording although she did record the song as a duet with Gordon MacRae. This is taken from the original early 50's 78 rpm record
