Edgar Allen Poe: Out of the Closet - A queer play adaptation of the works of Poe

Описание к видео Edgar Allen Poe: Out of the Closet - A queer play adaptation of the works of Poe

Join us in a staged, queer re-imagining of four of Edgar Allan Poe's famous works. It's queer theatre, for queer people, by queer people!

This is an independent Vancouver theater project that explores queer themes in Edgar Allan Poe's: Lenore, The Raven, Cask of Amontillado, and Masque of the Red Death.

This is first and foremost a passion project. Its aim is to allow a space for new perspectives, queer stories, and showcasing that we've been here all along. It was written and directed by Lara Ben Zvi who states that it stands as a love letter to the macabre and gothic.

You'll find that while new dialogue has been written to help viewers follow the storylines and these adaptations, Poe's works have been left unaltered. They remain in their entirety his original wording and stylistic choices. The play aims to showcase how his writings can be interpreted, and in the spirit of that we left them (mostly) verbally unaltered.
