My CW Journey: 5th Activation - uSDX+ Transceiver

As I muddle my way through learning Morse Code, I also delve into some of the cool accessories of CW like small radios! I bought a cheap No-Name radio off amazon and tried to activate Chatfield State park.

My experience:
We activated! In fact, I made more CW contacts in this activation than any other with this little radio. If I were a new amateur on a budget, I would definitely get this little radio.
THE DOWNSIDE: It picked up nearby signals badly and occasionally squealed and what made it go away was pushing the tuning knob in (it's a button too) and it made the noise go away. It was a strange workaround and it was annoying for sure.
All that said, I have been the young kid who wanted to get on the air and didn't really have the understanding or money from my parents to afford a thousand-dollar radio. If I was that kid again or just didn't have the budget for a high-end radio, I would beg for this radio for Christmas and I would be making QSOs in a matter of minutes of tearing the wrapping off!
Yes, it has its issues but I also got QSO's from every corner of the USA.
