Hello everyone. Welcome to a new video on this channel. Today's video is for all the single-channel RAM enthusiasts, of which there are plenty in the comment section of this YouTube channel. You know, every time I release a dual-channel ram video that most people would use for light gaming, I get hundreds of comments asking for single-channel ram performance. So that topic seems to be a very interesting one for you. And I have to admit that there are a lot of devices on the market that can't be upgraded from single to dual channel. I guess today's video definitely has a right to exist. But nevertheless, if you've got a device that is able to be upgraded from single-channel to dual-channel RAM, simply do that. The performance gain is huge, especially in games.
Back to today's system. What have we got? A Dynabook, former Toshiba, Satellite Pro C50-H-101, with an Intel Core i5-1035G1 quad-core CPU, 4 cores and 8 threads; Intel UHD Graphics 630, which is in this case only called "Intel UHD Graphics," but it has the same specs as the UHD 630; and last but not least, the already mentioned 8GB of DDR4 3200 MHz single-channel RAM, which can be upgraded to 16GB of dual-channel RAM easily, but not today.
So the specs make it seem like we've got to deal with an office notebook. And yes, this is the case. The battery has a run time of up to 10 hours, and the build quality is excellent. It should definitely do its job in terms of office and web applications. Also, the current price of around 450 euros makes this device look pretty attractive. But how is the performance in games?
To be fair, it's actually not as bad as I expected. I'd previously tested some i3's from the 10th and 11th generations with single-channel RAM on this channel, so I knew what to expect from this device, and it didn't disappoint me. Lower-demanding titles like Dead Space, Valorant, The Sims 4, and World of Tanks are ok, if not even well playable. Also, more demanding games like Sea of Thieves can be played only at very low settings and resolutions. Heavy titles like Warzone 2, Apex Legends, and Overwatch 2 are not options. But that was already made clear in advance. So even with the single-channel RAM, this little fella isn't that bad at all. If you're into retro gaming or you only want to play low-demanding titles, this device might be an option for you, even in 2023. The more demanding gamer should, of course, rather buy another, more powerful device with a dedicated GPU.
At the end of the video, I show you how to play hardware-hungry games, even on a slow device. Cloud Gaming. In this case, xCloud gaming in Forza Horizon 5 worked really well thanks to the Satellite Pro's fast Wi-Fi card. Artifacts only occurred very rarely.
In summary, I can only say that the Intel Core i5 1035G1 and the UHD graphics are not a bad solution for low-end or retro gaming, even in 2023. But please remember to upgrade the memory to dual-channel as soon as possible, if your device supports the upgrade. The performance gain is almost a bargain for the low price.
That's it for this voiceover. I hope you're going to like this video. If you do, feel free to leave a "like" and consider subscribing to this channel. I hope to see you all in the next one. Stay safe and have a great day. And now have a lot of fun watching this interesting benchmark compilation.
