Sammy Davis Show Premiere Episode

The premiere of the Sammy Davis Show boasted Richard Burton & Elizabeth Taylor, Nancy Wilson, Augie & Margot, stars from many of NBC's 1966 shows, and the final performing appearence of the Will Mastin Trio.

The singing and dancing appearance of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor on a variety show wasn't the only unique feature of the Sammy Davis Show.

Sammy Davis became the first African American to host an hour-long variety show. The show had an African American orchestra leader, George Rhodes and choreographer in Lester Wilson. It was the first to use a wireless microphone for its host. The show was filmed on both coasts and featured an integrated line up of guest stars each week which was rare on television in 1966.
