নিউ জার্সিতে বসেছে বৈশাখী মেলার আসর!
Celebration of Boisakhi Mela (an indoor fair to celebrate the arrival of the Bengali New Year) in New Jersey with the local Bengali community.

Although the real Pohela Boisakh was almost two weeks ago, in the diaspora (Probase), any day is a good day for celebration! Bengalis, being culturally rich and festive-minded people, always seek opportunities to come together and celebrate.

This Mela was organized by the Garden State Cultural Association, where my family has been a proud prime member for many years. In this video, I am sharing many aspects of the Mela — the colorful gathering of people, vendor stalls showcasing traditional Bengali dresses and ornaments, including sarees, kurtas, panjabis, lehengas, and much more.

And of course, no Bengali festival is complete without traditional and authentic Bengali food and sweets! This time, we had special vendor stalls featuring Maalpowa and Patisapta — festival-favorite pithas. There was also a stall serving traditional Goat and Chicken Biryani, along with mouthwatering Bengali-style kebabs and roast.

Wherever Bengalis gather, there must be music and songs — and this event was no exception. Casual participants of all ages showcased their musical talents across various genres.

It turned out to be a very successful and joyful event for the Central Jersey residents, who participated overwhelmingly in this no-entry-fee celebration.
