This ERN ReCONNET webinar focuses on the stratification of patients with Sjögren's disease.
Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disease with heterogeneous manifestations, ranging from dry syndrome, fatigue and pain to systemic cutaneous, renal, neurological and hematological manifestations and the risk of lymphoma.
For the moment, very few treatments have been shown to be effective, sometimes because of the choice of evaluation, but also perhaps because the populations included were too heterogeneous.
Tackling the heterogeneity of patients with Sjögren's disease is therefore a major challenge, both for designing clinical studies and for understanding the disease.
Some teams have proposed stratifying patients according to their symptoms.
More recently, a new stratification of patients has been proposed, taking into account not only symptoms but also systemic manifestations and the main biological data. This has given rise to 3 sub-groups, or "clusters" of patients: the BALS cluster (B-cell active with low symptoms), the HSA cluster (high systemic activity) and the LSAHS cluster (low systemic activity with high symptoms). These different groups differ not only in their characteristics but also in their prognosis and evolution.
In addition, these sub-groups have different cytokine profiles, particularly with regard to B and T-cell activities and the interferon signature, suggesting different pathophysiological mechanisms.

The speaker of this webinar is Dr. Yann Nguyen from the Université Paris Cité, Assistance Publique, Hôpitaux de Paris.

The moderators of this webinar are Prof. Gaetane Nocturne (APHP Hopital Bicetre, Paris Saclay University, INSERM) and Coralie Bouillot (Sjogren Europe).

Yann Nguyen is an associate professor in Internal Medicine and Clinical Immunology at Paris Cité University.
He holds an MD and a PhD in public health. He has worked for many years with the Autoimmune Diseases Reference Centre, Rheumatology Department, Bicêtre Hospital, Paris Saclay University, with Professor Xavier Mariette, Professor Raphaèle Seror and Professor Gaetane Nocturne.
His research focuses on the epidemiology of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, in particular the risk factors for rheumatoid polyarhtritis, lupus and vasculitis, and more recently on the stratification of patients with Sjögren's disease.
He is the author of over 80 publications.
