The Lelit Mara X is capable of brewing delicious espresso shots in its original form. However, we wanted to install the flow control kit that comes with the Lelit Bianca and see how it goes.

The installation process is simple, but it needs to be taken one step at a time in a slow manner.

The flow control kit and the group-head pressure gauge comes in different boxes. The group-head gauge is not necessarily, but it does help you to understand the differences between the machine's pump pressure, and the pressure above the coffee puck.

The most important points that needs your attention are while installing the flow-control kit are:

🔹️Don't over-tighten the small brass screw that sits under the flow-control needle, as it might break. Normal hand pressure is enough to tighten it.
🔹️Don't screw the flow-control piece unless you loosen the needle as we did in the video. You might risk damaging the needle by forcing it inside the brass screw that sits underneath it.

Thoughts regarding the flow-control kit:

So far, we are loving it. It allows us to start with softer raising pressure phase. You can check the extraction in our (Iced LongBlack), where you can see us starting the brewing with low flow, then ramping it to full flow once the extraction starts.

Overall, the flow-kit is 100% worth it 💫
As for the group-head Pressure Gauge, if you are on a budget, you can find some alternative budget friendly choices, or you can install the flow-control kit without it.
