Wanaka’s Nico Porteous defies gravity. He’s the ultimate champ – this year’s Beijing Olympics’ freestyle skiing halfpipe gold medallist and 2022 X Games superpipe gold medallist.

Nico’s creativity and athleticism have launched him high into the mountain air to pull off tricks many believed were impossible.

He’s been doing it since he first hopped on skis as a four year old at Cardrona but what makes this 20 year old tick and why has he not even touched his skis since March?
