On November 17, 2022 the Save Acworth History Foundation presented the third annual Nancy Smith Maxwell Award to Dallas and Ernestine Godfrey of Acworth, GA.

The Nancy Maxwell Award was created by the Save Acworth History Foundation to honor persons who have made a significant contribution to preserving the proud heritage and rich history of the Acworth community. The first recipient of the award in 2020 was Nancy Smith Maxwell.

Ernestine Godfrey is a lifelong resident of Acworth, GA and a graduate of North Cobb High School. Dallas Godfrey has lived in Acworth for the past 52 years. They were married in 1971.

Dallas Godfrey served in the U. S. Army from 1969 to 1975 and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. He joined the U. S. Air Force Reserve in 1981 and became a full-time Air Force Reserve technician in 1989. In 2005 he was promoted to the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant. In 2009 Dallas retired with 34 years of military service.

Ernestine and Dallas, also known as Ernie and Junior, have given 48 years of their lives together in community service through organizations such as the 4 Watt CB Club and Allatoona Charities which have benefitted many local families in need. They have hosted numerous cruise-in car shows and supported projects such as Horizon Field.
